Hardware Improvements
The ‘PSP-2000’ presents numerous improvements and tweaks as compared to older generation. Internal memory’s (Flash ROM and RAM) capacity was increased from 32Mega Bytes to 64 Mega Bytes, i.e. doubled. The performance of web browser got improved because of that.
Battery
PSP slim was obtained by reducing the battery’s capacity by 33%. Owing to more efficient usage of power, PSP slim’s run time has not changed. The charging time required for battery is 2 ½ hours. It lasts for 3 to 6 hours. This time depends on factors like volume levels and settings of screen brightness. The charge can be extended by using older battery.
Inputs, outputs, and external appearance
The PSP slim and lite is provided with a novel gloss finish. The modification of serial port has taken place. This is done for accommodating a novel video-out feature. A more compact and simpler design for loading UMD has been developed. The ‘Wi-Fi’ switch has been moved to console’s top and slot for Memory Stick to upper left. The repositioning of speakers has been done on front side of PSP slim, adjoining the screen’s top. The infrared port has been removed, as it does not help in any other functionality except homebrew applications.
