PSP downgrade
The electronic market witnesses new versions of firmware (operating system) every now and then. Right now, these experiments are carried out on ‘Sony Portable PlayStation (PSP)’. Such experiments give a brand new look to the PSP. In addition to that, they help in the installation of security and authentication features. Due to this, one might find installation of hacks such as Homebrew or playing big games impossible.
From the time of release of PSP, war has been waged between crackers and Sony, with every novel version of firmware being cracked swiftly and fairly, so that downgrading can be done easily. For installing free games one needs to run firmware version 1.0 or 1.5.
Downgrading Dangers
It should be noted that down gradation of PSP breaks the warranty. This can prove to be dangerous to the hardware. Secondly, upgrading is required for downgrading. Only that down grader can be used which can go from 1 version of firmware to another. That’s why; most of the users are advised to carry out the updation of their PSP. It should be updated to at least ‘version 2.0 (US)’ and then downgraded to 1.0 or 1.5.
Finding the firmware
To determine the version running, following steps need to be followed: Firstly, let the main menu be navigated. Secondly, let the settings be selected, followed by system settings and system information. Thirdly, let the software version be checked. X.XX would give this version. This would decide which updater and downloader would be needed. It should be noted that version>1.51 would prohibit the firmware from running independent applications like Homebrew.
Tips
To downgrade any new version of firmware, crackers first of all need to decrypt new authentication measures or new security, and create a downloader after that. This takes time. If one intends downgrading a brand-new or completely updated version of new PSP, he must work with latest version. Version 3.5 is the current version running in market.
